Course Design

The course consists of theoretical and practical modules, lasting 80 hours in total. It is divided into eight units, with each unit prepared by two partners based on their expertise. The course will be delivered in English, with materials available in multiple languages. Some parts will be recorded and uploaded, while others will be livestreamed. The modules cover contemporary healthcare education topics, including simulation modalities and innovative teaching techniques. One module focuses on implementing simulation in the curriculum based on UNIPD’s experience. Practical weeks at simulation centers offer virtual scenarios reflecting educators’ decision-making process.

Course objectives

The project aims to revolutionize healthcare education by creating a course that enhances the skills of educators in integrating simulation into healthcare curricula. The project will develop and provide course materials to support educators in this endeavor.

A guidance document will be produced to assist partners in implementing the course materials and establishing a self-sustaining course ecosystem. LMU will coordinate the activities with the support of all partners, ensuring collaboration in content preparation based on thematic areas identified. The selection of learners and instructors will follow consistent criteria across countries.

Course Delivery

The participants in this course include staff members from LMU, UNIPD, and UMFST who will develop and refine the course materials. MM will provide support to the higher education institutions (HEIs) in material production. Additionally, six external experts, including four from academia and two from industry, will evaluate the created materials. It’s important to note that the Erasmus+ Programme offers co-financing for the project, meaning that the EU grant will only cover a portion of the project costs. The participating organizations will need to secure additional funding or contribute in the form of goods, services, and work to cover the remaining costs.

The monitoring process for this work package involves ensuring the progress and completion of the online course by the participants. Key quantitative indicators include achieving the target number of participants (20), ensuring each participant completes at least 60% of the theoretical online course, and obtaining survey responses from at least 60% of the participants and instructors.

Qualitative indicators focus on gathering feedback and evaluating satisfaction. This includes assessing the satisfaction of trainees, obtaining feedback from instructors, and evaluating the skills of trainees at a specific milestone. Surveys and tests will be created as course materials to gather this feedback and evaluate performance.

This task involves organizing an online event to introduce the project and the course, followed by the delivery of the theoretical module online. Participants will have one month to complete the online course.

Practical modules will provide face-to-face workshops for 28 hours, spread across five days each week. These practical modules offer an opportunity for instructors and participants to meet in person and exchange international experiences.

After the completion of the course, feedback will be collected and analyzed to identify areas that require revision. A report will be compiled with the collected data, including proposals for improving the course materials. The partners will then revise their materials based on the report’s findings to create a final revised version.
